My drama students loved all these games; we’re getting through the book week by week and there are so many effective exercises. Starter 57(DM2) Gesture Connect Main Course 138(DM2) Attack Level Dessert 154(DM2) The Balloon Additional Comments My students need energy; they can be a little introvert so, I wanted a combination of theatre games that would energise and inspire them to ‘let go’ in performance… I got that with this combination. The energy was ramped up from the get-go with Banana and HASH being great ways to create a buzzz in the class without singling anyone out. I was shocked with how well some of my students committed to the Gesture Connect exercise; even the shyer ones. Dessert 154(DM2) The Balloon Additional Comments I run a theatre group for 8-12 year olds and I’m always looking for fun ideas for younger performers and there are lots in this book. This combination, I used on the weekend. I wanted a mixture of vocal and physical activities and this provided just that. I asked them to bring the vocal and physical attack that they had used in the Appetisers/Starter in the Main Performance Course and they really did! We had so much fun and the Map, Money, Magic object exercise really got their creativity flowing. I will DEFINITELY use the balloon exercise again; it was a brilliant way to end the session. I will try playing Conviction Performers again as I’m not sure they were able to fully let go the first time; it will be interesting to see if this changes by the end of the term.
